The Trip with Gary Sherwood

Saturdays at 8pm
The 1960’s music scene was as rich and varied as the decade it defined, an era Gary Sherwood celebrates every Saturday 8-10 p.m. on The Trip.  From the Sunset Strip sounds of Buffalo Springfield and the Doors to the Haight Ashbury scene of Jefferson Airplane and Moby Grape.  From the Brill Building pop of The Ronettes and Gene Pitney to the Greenwich Village folk of Bob Dylan and Peter, Paul and Mary.  From the sleek Motown hits of The Temptations and Marvin Gaye to the gutbucket Stax soul of Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding.  And from the clubs of Liverpool and Manchester to the studios of London we hear the entire  progression of British rock from the Beatles and Rolling Stones to The Who and Small Faces.  And don’t forget our weekly trip to the parents den where we hear a 1960’s adult standard from Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand and other mom-and-pop favorites.  Plus readings from album liner notes (a lost art!) and books written during or about the 60’s.  The Trip is your one-stop journey back to most creative and innovative decade of the last century.
